Where would we call home?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
So far program five has been the most thought-provoking. While the big bang, the black holes, the alien lives, and the inevitable space catastrophes are captivating, they have been mentioned a thousand times before. In this installment I finally found something that is entire new (to me): moving to Europa, the 4th largest of Jupiter's satellites that is covered with a smooth shell of frozen water. Well, and that would be after migrating to Mars of course. Too bad I won't live to see it though. Maybe uploading my entire brain onto a supercomputer will allow me to see it when the day our sun runs its own course. Good grief!

together alone?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
the fourth program of the Space series. there is simply no way that we are alone in the universe. it's so damn vast! we might even have seen them, but our eyes or any of our senses are not equipped to comprehend their existence. intelligent lives out there, mark my word, if you don't find us, we'll find you! that brings me to another topic, we have been literally busting our ass trying to find a way to beat the speed of light so we can travel through space. it seems like when time comes we don't have to invent, we adapt, their technology. our physics says there can be no machines with a volocity faster than the speed of light anyways.

now capitalization and punctuation dont seem to be that big a deal do they

lucky?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I have one conclusion after watching the second program of the Space series: we are lucky. However above all other factors, we're still here because our existence so far has been very extremely brief. Say 1/10^1000 of a second compared to the universe if it were a 100 y/o man. So we are indeed living in slow motion, imagine the slowest of slow motion you can think of, divide its each moment into tens of billions of pieces, that's one year for us. Damn do we move fast!

Who are we?

BBC has produced a handful of good astronomy TV programs including a bunch of Horizon shows. Recently (and by recent I mean 2001) there is a new series coming out on DVD called Space, the Series, and it's quite intriguing. It talks about the usual suspects - the big bang, supernova, black holes, galacies, stars, planets, dangers and the future of the universe, etc. It's up-to-date in terms of new findings and it's got nice 3D presentations of these stellar activities, bottom line, worth a closer look.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Since the first stargazers of ancient civilisations, man has always been fascinated by what lies beyond planet Earth. Look up at the stars and you see a million points of light - you’re looking at the entire universe. But what is out there? Let Sam Neill be your guide as state-of-the-art computer graphics take you on the ultimate journey beyond any known universe.

Experience the beautiful, astonishing and often dangerous phenomena for the Universe first hand - from the vast clouds where new stars are born, to planet-guzzling monsters such as black holes. This six-part series will realise the awesome scale of space and capture the mystery and intrigue that it inspires. And it tackles some of the biggest questions of all - are we alone? Where do we fit in? How did the universe begin? And perhaps most frighteningly of all, how will it end?

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Sex tech, titillating toys and porn stars featured in a seedy carnival of carnal pleasures across the street from Madison Square Garden on Saturday at New York's first Erotic Expo.

More than 50 exhibitors set up shop next to the Hotel Pennsylvania to strut their stuff in a ragged, flea market setting one flight up from the street and grab a piece of what organizers say is a $40 billion worldwide sex market.

Tera Patrick, Britney Rears and Tiffany Mynx were among the popular porno queens posing for pictures with fans in the two-day event that ended Saturday, while product innovators flogged everything from patented condoms to art object dildos, and an exercise program devised to make a man's private parts bigger...read more

complicated sexuality

Sexuality has gotten really perplexed over the years. Our perception of homosexuality has gradually changed for the better. With all those shows in the media, it helps. Shows like Will and Grace, Queer Eye, and the new show that sort of replaced Sex in the City, heck, even Idols offer alternate views of the gay community. They are not unwanted. In fact, they are fashionmongers and professionals, who are passionate, affectionate, and above them all, funny!

So the idea of a guy trapped in a woman's body is no longer too weird, or vice versa. However, can a lesbian be trapped in a man's body? That's the $100 question.

Another good car show in England that started it all (believe in 1970's). They have some interesting ideas but Jeremy Clarkson gets on my nerves quite a bit. New season just started.

In 2001 due to falling ratings, the BBC chose to axe the show. Channel 5 then decided to revive the show with the then current presenters (Quentin Willson, Vicki Butler-Henderson and Tiff Needell). Because BBC owns the name rights, the show had to be renamed 5th Gear. The show was only revived because Jeremy Clarkson was considered to be the most popular presenter of them all and many people had considered his absence to be the cause of the demise of the show. source: IMDb.com

A lesson all men should learn

LUCKNOW, India (Reuters) - A young woman chopped off her husband's penis with a kitchen knife in northern India over his "blatant indulgence in womanising and drinking", police said on Saturday.

The 27-year-old woman said her husband of 10 years had brought a prostitute home to Lucknow in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police said.

"I wanted to teach him a lesson for his blatant indulgence in womanising and drinking," Reshma Ahmed, a mother of four, said in her confession to police.

"He was fast asleep when I thought to myself that enough was enough ... so I tied his hands and feet and got a kitchen knife to chop off his organ to bring an end to his lust once and for all."

A team of doctors at a local hospital reattached his penis. "We will have to wait and watch to see if he will be sexually normal again," said A.K. Singh, who performed the surgery.

E3 2005

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
After it's all said and done, this year E3 has really shown what the next-gen gaming is going to be like. The trend, in a nutshell, seems to be multi-player capability combined with online play, and Hollywood invasion. But of course there are a lot more, like eye-popping graphics and interactivity. PS2 is more of a technological advanced powerhouse while Xbox goes for the versatility as well as expansion of its online community. Nintendo as always, is too cool to show what's coming up next until things are ready to roll out in stores. Expect them to have nice familiar derivative of previous games.

LOS ANGELES – MAY 20, 2005 – More than 70,000 industry professionals from 79 countries gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the world’s premiere interactive entertainment trade show. According to the show's owner, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), approximately 400 exhibitors occupied 547,000 net square feet of exhibit space and displayed more than 5,000 computer and video game products – 1,000 of which made their debut. Exhibitors reported 80 percent of the 5,000 products will be found on store shelves by the 2005 holiday season.

a treehugger of a backpack

As a judge for the Scientistic Invitational earlier this Spring I had the chance to look at some really great projects. This one, by Eddie Lee from the Art Center College of Design, was one of my favorites.

The Personal Anti-theft Portable Locker draws inspiration from roly-polys, armadillos and lobsters. It has a soft inner backpack and a hard articulated shell that can be separated from the lining. While the design of this thing is pretty great looking, it's a brilliant solution to the urban dilemma of "I need to ditch my bag for a few hours." All you do is wrap the shell around a secure structure like a sign post or lamp pole and lock it in place.

nameless pianist

LONDON (Reuters) - A smartly dressed man found wandering in a soaking wet suit near an English beach has baffled police and care workers after he refused to say a word and then gave a virtuoso piano performance.

The man, wearing a formal black suit and tie, was spotted by police in Kent on April 8 and taken to a psychiatric unit where it proved impossible to identify him because he stayed silent.

It was only after he was given a pen and paper that care-givers were given an intriguing clue to his possible background when he drew an intricate picture of a grand piano.

He was taken to the hospital's chapel where he played classical music on the piano for hours.

However, despite his picture being posted on the National Missing Persons Helpline's (NMPH) Web site, no one has come forward to identify him.

"Very little is known about him as he has not been speaking with staff at the hospital where he is being cared for, but he has a talent for playing classical piano," an NMPH spokesman said in a statement. Newspapers said members of the public had contacted authorities to say they may have seen the man giving concert performances around Europe.

The Daily Telegraph said the man, in his 20s or 30s, is believed to be English and may have suffered a mental breakdown.

His story echoes the 1996 Oscar-winning film "Shine," in which actor Geoffrey Rush played Australian pianist David Helfgott, who overcame a nervous breakdown to return to performing.

The editors of Merriam-Webster dictionaries got more than 3,000 entries when, in a lighthearted moment, they asked visitors to their Web site to submit their favorite words that aren't in the dictionary.

"It was a lot of fun," Arthur Bicknell, a spokesman for the Springfield-based dictionary publisher, said Monday. "We weren't expecting so many. They only had two weeks."

Some of the proposed words even gained multiple submissions so the editors came up with an unofficial Top 10 list.

First place went to "ginormous" — bigger than gigantic and bigger than enormous — followed by "confuzzled" for confused and puzzled simultaneously, and "whoot," an exclamation of joy. A "lingweenie" — a person incapable of making up new words — placed 10th.

Besides the Top Ten, some loyal Mary Poppins fans submitted "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," which is in the Oxford English Dictionary, Bicknell said. He also spotted "a number of Harry Potterisms" among the entries.

"We will have to see about those," he said.

the empire strikes back

MPAA has turned its attention to rapidly growing TV piracy and has sued six websites offering BitTorrent trackers for TV shows. The sites were extremely popular among non-Americans, who typically have to wait between 6 months and several years in order to have the major American TV shows aired in their home country. read more...

The Japanese are crazy and very serious about their gadgetry. There is simply no end to their innovativeness. Here they did it again: shirts with cellphone pocket. Will they eventually become world-wide fashion? Possible. Are they practical yet? I doubt it.

Ayaka's surprise English lesson

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Even though I really dislike Morning Musume, the show seems interesting.

Ayaka's Surprise English Lesson was a segment on the show Bishoujo Kyouiku and later Bishoujo Kyouiku II in 2001 and 2002. It was hosted by Coconuts Musume member Kimura Ayaka who speaks fluent English and Japanese.

Each segment consisted of her accosting or luring a Morning Musume member and hitting them with an English lesson. She would say a phrase and they would attempt to repeat it back, usually failing miserably. Early on in the series she would surprise them again a couple months later with a test to see if they remembered their phrases. Later she would entice them with games, treats and rewards.

Bishoujo Kyouiku II ended in late 2002 and so the series. There are 206 episodes, each lasting a minute or two. -wiki.theppn.org

There is an unofficial research that indicates there have been at least 10 deaths in Iraq everyday for the past 25 months. Indeed a research done by me. Have we become numb. Did I not come this close to serve in the army and would otherwise be asked to kill innocent people and be killed? Is it their fault? How numb can you be?

Thanks to gtplanet.net we, the die-hard car fans, have a place to call home. And today I want to introduce you to the best drift group that frequent gtplanet: Team FBI. Here are some of their drifting-in-GT4 videos: (right-click and save as)
